Colombia Borbon Marta Rubi

Brewtus Roasting and Vergel Estates are teaming up again this year to bring you this exceptional Direct Trade coffee. We are continuing our support for the farmers during the current challenging times. Brewtus Roasting is paying five times over current Fair Trade prices.

This coffee is a red bourbon varietal that has been named after Marta, mother of Shady and Elias Bayter, who all together run El Vergel Estate in Tolima, Colombia.

An invaluable part of her son's lives, Marta is also a pillar of her community, having created a project in which she employs local women to harvest and sort this coffee, providing them an income to help support their families.

The cherries for this coffee were harvested at peak ripeness before being fermented in an anaerobic environment inside steel tanks for 60 hours. After fermentation, the coffee is sun-dried for 24 days. The coffee was then stored in grain pro bags for 2 months.  They go through great lengths to only produce the finest yields from the crops for Brewtus Roasting. The result is super juicy!  It has sweet notes of strawberry and the tartness of rhubarb.
